Bike leasing for hospitals, elderly care, rehabilitation centers and home nursing
Cycle to work, save time, and help the planet. No traffic jams, no parking hassle — just smooth, healthy commuting. With Joule, bike leasing is a smooth ride for healthcare professionals.
More and more healthcare institutions are switching to sustainable mobility. And that’s great news, because since 2025, not only organizations under Joint Committee 330 but also employers in Joint Committee 331 — and likely soon Joint Committee 319 — can offer bike leasing to their employees.
Bike leasing tailored to the healthcare sector
Who can lease a company bike?
Bike leasing is available to employers and employees covered by JC 330, which applies to healthcare institutions and services such as hospitals, forensic psychiatric centers, rehabilitation facilities, home nursing, and more*.
Since 2025, a similar arrangement also applies to JC 331, which covers the welfare and healthcare sector. Within this group, organizations in mental health care can allow employees to convert (part of) their year-end bonus into a leased bike. This measure currently does not apply to childcare organizations.
The socio-cultural sector (JC 319) is also showing interest. While this sector already offers a year-end bonus, there is not yet a specific collective labor agreement (CLA) for bike leasing. However, forward-thinking organizations can already integrate it internally through a cafeteria plan or company-level agreement.
How does bike leasing work in the healthcare sector?
The budget allocated to bike leasing can come from the full or partial conversion of the gross year-end bonus or, in some cases, the attractiveness bonus.
Important note: the conversion may not result in employer cost savings. The full value of the bonus must be passed on to the employee through the bike lease.
You heard that right — employees can’t use their base salary for bike leasing, and that’s actually an advantage. The year-end bonus is taxed less heavily than regular salary, which means a greater fiscal benefit for employees.

Why healthcare professionals love Joule
Joule ❤️ the healthcare industry and the love is mutual. But judge for yourself!
Stijn Vandeurzen (Prevention Advisor Ter Heide) summarizes it nicely: "Employee happiness is connected to good mobility. It is easy for our employees to commute by bike and no longer depend on their cars. No traffic jams have a positive impact, and biking to work provides much-needed relaxation."
Diana Achten (Team Coach): "The process at Joule went very smoothly. I was presented different simulations with different accessories and prices. I received the right guidance and information to choose the right bike. The communication between myself, HR and Joule went very well across the board."

And also health insurance fund Helan strongly believes in the power of bike leasing with Joule: “Employees bike so much more now, also outside work,” says Kaat Van Hecke, HR Expert at Helan. "We think this is great, of course, as the physical and mental well-being of our colleagues is paramount at Helan. Moreover, healthy employees are more motivated in their jobs, which ultimately also benefits our customers. Personally, using a car makes me feel uncomfortable. Once you've tried a bicycle lease, you don't want to go back."
