Joule is growing and rethinking its structure. As HR Manager, you make sure the right people ride in, get paid fairly and smartly, and that the organisation runs like a well-oiled chain. You get a seat at the table.

If there’s one thing we’re proud of at Joule, it’s our people. It’s almost a miracle that we get to work with such a great bunch of smart people today. Time to hire someone who can help make our organisation even better and more enjoyable. Joule is looking for an HR Manager.

What does an HR Manager do at Joule? You make sure the right people ride into Joule, that they’re paid fairly and smartly, and that the organisation runs like a well-oiled chain. Joule is growing and we’re rethinking our structure, with new team leads and a stronger leadership team. You get a seat at the table.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have 5 to 8 years of HR experience, part of it as an HR Business Partner or HR generalist, ideally in a scale-up or growing SME.
  • You know Belgian social law like the back of your hand. Or like your bike saddle.
  • Comp & ben is no black box to you: you explain salary bands, fringe benefits and a cafeteria plan as easily to a colleague as to a CFO.
  • You’ve done recruitment yourself, from job ad to signature.
  • You’ve helped think through how an organisation fits together: roles, responsibilities and who decides what.
  • You speak and write Dutch fluently. English and French are a strong asset.
  • You’re pragmatic: you’d rather have a two-page policy everyone reads than a forty-page one that disappears into a folder.
  • You’re discreet and honest, and you dare to push back, including on the co-CEOs.
  • You work independently and in a structured way, and an emptying to-do list makes you happy.
  • Freelance, part-time or full-time? We’re happy to discuss what fits best, depending on your profile.

What’s the job?

1. Comp & ben

  • You keep our pay policy consistent with job levels and salary bands.
  • You manage the personnel budget together with our CFO.
  • You manage and improve our fringe benefits package, from hospitalisation insurance to meal vouchers, mobility and (of course) the lease bike.
  • You steer payroll together with our social secretariat and make sure every payslip is correct.
  • You’re the SPOC for the social secretariat and the whole team on everything comp & ben.

2. Recruitment and onboarding

  • You run the full recruitment process with the hiring managers, from vacancy to signature. Yes, you’ll write the next version of this text.
  • Together with the marketing team, you make Joule the place where good people want to work.
  • From day one, new colleagues know where the coffee is, what their goals are and who to call. And those who leave do so with a good feeling.

3. Organisation and development

  • You help shape our structure: which teams, which leads and which roles.
  • You write job profiles and help the new team leads find their feet.
  • You set up a simple cycle for feedback, evaluation and development, and shape career paths.
  • When the organisation changes, you make sure everyone is on board. Not just on paper.

4. HR operations

  • You write and maintain our HR policies, such as the work regulations and the policies on remote work, leave, expenses, training and mobility. Short, clear and readable.
  • You keep personnel administration in order: contracts, leave and sickness.
  • You’re there for every colleague with an HR question, from sick leave to “can I switch teams?”

What’s in it for you

First and foremost: you help build a company that gets people on bikes, with a direct, positive impact on the environment and society. On top of that, you join an ambitious team passionate about sport, customer service and having fun at work. The road can be a bit bumpy at times, but we’re happy to help you over the cobblestones. You also get:

  • An attractive salary package (and please, find a more original adjective for your future job ads).
  • Hospitalisation insurance.
  • Meal vouchers.
  • An electric bike through leasing.
  • A cafeteria plan.
  • A mobile phone subscription.
  • A pleasant, informal work environment.
  • 2 spare inner tubes and 2 sets of brake pads.

We improve commuting

Joule is a bike-leasing service provider. We design and implement bike-leasing plans for companies and public organisations, whether for commuting through salary bike leasing or for daily operations with fleet bikes or cargo bikes. We do more than make plans: we take care of everything, from strategy to execution, including delivery and maintenance.

Joule was founded in 2018 and grew fast. In 2022, with the support of investor D’Ieteren, we accelerated our mission to revolutionise corporate bike leasing. Since then, we’ve doubled our bike fleet every year and keep expanding our services and our impact in the bike-leasing sector.

Our core values

  • Stakeholder intimacy: we build lasting, close partnerships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • Fun but functional: we do things right, and we enjoy doing them.
  • Transparency: open and honest communication is at the heart of everything we do.
