The year’s coming to an end, so it’s time to look back!
Which bikes ruled the road, which brands topped the charts, and how much CO₂ did we save together?
Here it is: Joule Wrapped 2025.
🚴♀️ Bike types
Top 3 leased bikes:
- E-bike (of course!)
- Sport bike
- Speed-pedelec
Least popular:
Not the classic non-electric bike, but the compact bike.
Sorry, little city bikes.
Interested in leasing a compact model but need some more convincing? Our colleague Lauren is a huge fan!

✨ Bike brands
No fewer than 156 different brands are cruising around Belgium with a Joule sticker on their frame. But a few favorites still lead the pack.
Top 10 brands of 2025:
1. Gazelle
2. Riese & Müller
3. Cube
4. Trek
5. Stromer
6. Oxford
7. Canyon
8. Norta
9. Orbea
10. Scott
👉🏻 I (Elke) ride a Gazelle myself, and I totally get why it’s number one. Gazelle bikes are known for quality, comfort, and reliability. With over 130 years of experience, this Dutch brand makes sturdy, low-maintenance bikes perfect for everyday commuting.
Our colleagues Jules and Tibe swear by their custom VELO DE VILLE rides. ✨

⏳ Lease periods
The most popular lease term?
36 months, followed by 48 months.
Not sure whether a speed-pedelec fits your commute? Maybe you’re considering a cargo bike for your home visits, or you just want a one-year lease before moving abroad? At Joule, you can go shorter too — lease for 12 or 24 months, fully flexible and on your terms!

Lightning speed, literally. ⚡

🔐 Accessories
A bike without accessories? That’s like coffee without caffeine. Possible, but why would you? 🤷🏻
Cyclists love to make their rides safer, smoother, and more fun with the right gear.
Top 3 most popular accessories:
- Bike locks
- Bags
- Helmets
And the “other” category? Surprisingly strong featuring extra lights, bottle holders, and GPS trackers. Little things, big impact.

🌿 CO₂ savings
💡 Did you know an e-bike emits just 3 grams of CO₂ per passenger kilometer?
We calculated how much CO₂ our Joule riders saved together this year:
Using Belgian averages:
- Average commute: 20.8 km
- 220 workdays per year
- Car emissions: 0.193 kg CO₂/km
- E-bike emissions: 0.003 kg CO₂/km
👉 Total CO₂ saved in 2025: 5,168 tons
That’s the equivalent of 2,600 cars staying off the road for an entire year! 🚗❌
💔 Oops… damage & theft
Even with top locks and careful parking, things happen.
In 2025, a few unlucky moments were reported:
- Bike thefts: 37
- Damage reports: 209
It happens to the best of us… but prevention helps!
👉 Read our blog: Protect your bike from theft with these 5 tips.
